INSTRUCTIONS

Mock Cast on 17 Stitches

This is is done by arm crocheting a chain 17 stitches long, and pulling up one last loop through the last chain at a 90 degree angle as your first stitch to the next row.

Row 1 – Continue to pull the yarn through each dash or bump in the back of the chain (the back side of the braid or plait should have one bump for every stitch) until you’ve reach the end.

Slide all the loops onto your arm so that the working yarn (yarn your knitting with) is on the hand side and not the elbow side of the loops.

Row 2 – Slip 1 stitch and knit all the stitches apart from the last stitch, for the last stitch pull the yarn directly through the loop so the stitch will sit sideways on the end of the blanket, (this is called knitting through the back loops KTBL. This creates a nice smooth edge when your all finished with the entire blanket.

Row 3 – Slip 1, Knit 15 stitches, Knit through the back loop 1 stitch (simply pull it straight through the loop).

Continue doing this until you have enough yarn for one last row.

CAST OFF ROW
Slip 1 stitch, Knit 1 stitch, with the 2 loops on your arm lift up the back loop and pull it over the front loop and drop it off your hand completely. You should now have only one loop left on your arm.

Continue on in this manner, knit one more loop, drop the back loop over the front loop and off your hand. Once you come to the end you should have only one loop.

Break the yarn so you have a 12″ or about 24 cm tail and pull the tail through the last loop.

Weave the tail into the back of the blanket near the cast off stitches to blend the tail into the blanket.

Also weave in the tail on the other side of the blanket created when you started the mock cast on.
