Knitting Help – Chinese Waitress Cast-On

A deep cast-on with medium stretch, the Chinese Waitress Cast-On is pretty on both sides, and therefore good for double-sided items like scarves and blankets.

The sweater on the mannequin is my Woman’s Zippered Letterman’s Jacket, pattern + video tutorial:

The pattern for the sweater I’m wearing can be found here (not my design):

The needles I’m using for demonstration are by Clover.

The nail polish I’m wearing is Julep color “Flora”:

Longtail Cast On for Beginners

The longtail cast on is a great all-purpose cast on. It’s stretchy, lays flat and looks pretty darn nice too! Because it’s all-around awesome, make the longtail your default cast on. It won’t fail you. But it can be a bit tricky to do at first. So, follow along and take it slow: clamp down, make a diamond shape, touch your thumb. (These terms only make sense after you watch the video!).

Knitting Help – Flicking Q & A

“Flicking” is a way of knitting that is a variation on English/American/throwing knitting – a way to hold the working yarn in your right hand without ever letting go of the right needle. The first (and more general) video I have on flicking can be found here:
