Episode 51 features two special interviews. The first interview is with Edinburgh Yarn Festival founders, Jo Kelly and Mica Koehlmos. After catching up on all the footage from the Edinburgh Yarn Festival 2018, it is great to meet the people behind it and to hear the story of how the Festival got started. Our second interview guest is technical editor, designer, author and instructor Kate Atherley. Kate talks about her passion for teaching people how to really custom fit their socks as well as helping knit designers create high quality knitting patterns.
Andrea also takes us through her latest projects and we take a closer look at Fair Isle patterning, comparing traditional and modern designs and colors. We’ve got updates on the Vintage Shetland Kal and the Modify Your Garment Kal, we visit a mountain castle and hear some beautiful music, and lots more! We would love to have your company.

Edinburgh Yarn Festival 2018 coincides with the 50th Episode of the Fruity Knitting Podcast. In this Episode we would like to share some of the personalities and some of the atmosphere of the Festival with those who couldn’t be there. If you were fortunate enough to attend, then maybe we can firm up some fond memories.
We have short interviews with a colorful selection of 12 vendors from the Edinburgh Yarn Festival, covering designers, yarn producers, dyers and suppliers of tools and accessories for the knitter. Edinburgh is a beautiful city and well worthy of a visit in itself, and we take you on a tour showing you our highlights. We will also get you in on some of the social events around the Festival. And finally, as it is a yarn festival, Andrea will give you a quick look at the knitting projects that she has planned and the yarns that she bought in Edinburgh for those projects.
We had a brilliant time at the Edinburgh Yarn Festival, and we hope we can share some of the fun with you.

Veera Valimaki and Joji Locatelli are both exciting designers in their own right, but they have just released their fifth collaborative collection, Interpretations Volume 5. In Episode 49 we are joined by both Joji and Veera, but we will also be speaking to some of the dyers that they worked with for their latest collection. We’ll be travelling from Patagonia in the south of Argentina to Espoo in Finland, from Aschaffenburg in central Germany to Coaticook in Quebec, Canada. It’s knitting inspiration from around the world!
And back at home in our Offenbach studios there’s a finished garment from Caitlin Hunter, a tutorial on shoulder shaping, and a wanderer returned from Australia, with a little furry footage to enjoy. Come along for the ride!

In Fruity Knitting Episode 48 we are thrilled to have Susan Crawford as our guest, and particularly to hear about her brand new book, The Vintage Shetland Project. We joined Susan at her farm in Cumbria to talk about techniques and designs but also the human stories behind these vintage Shetland garments. This is a fascinating project backed by Susan’s expertise and total dedication. We travel to St Louis, Missouri to meet Karen as our guest in Knitters of the World. Andrea shows us a cute edging technique, and we see some progress on our projects. We’d love to have your company!

Caitlin Hunter & Wovember – Ep. 41 – Fruity Knitting Podcast
Caitlin Hunter is our interview guest in Episode 41 of the Fruity Knitting Podcast. Caitlin is a relatively new designer on the handknitting scene but brings both qualifications and experience as a professional textiles designer. She released her first knitting pattern in March 2016 but is already gaining recognition as an exciting designer. We get a taste of Russia from Elena, our guest on Knitters of the World, and Valerie Hobbs of Laughingstar Knits brings us her latest design in New Releases. We talk about Wovember, learn about reinforcing steeks, and catch some wildlife on beautiful Bressay, an island just west of mainland Shetland.
